COVID Update (April 8) – changes to April-May schedule
The current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is severely impacting all planned group activities across Montana, and current restrictions are likely to remain in place at least into early Summer.
To address this situation, in an April 7th webex meeting, the Wind Drinkers Board decided to make the following changes to our 2020 schedule:
- the final Winter Fun Run (‘Back From The M‘), scheduled for April 25th, 2020, is cancelled
- the Summer Kick-off Potluck at the Lindley Center, scheduled for April 29th, 2020, is cancelled
- the Baldy Blitz race is re-scheduled from May 2nd, 2020 to October 3rd, 2020
- all Fun Runs in May, normally scheduled Wednesday evenings, are cancelled. We will make decisions on June-September Fun Runs later, as the situation evolves; our next Board meeting will be May 12th, where we will address at least the June runs
- the Frank Newman Marathon and Relay, scheduled for May 23rd, 2020, is cancelled
- the Grand Prix race series for 2020 is cancelled, as there are not enough races that we can include in it
The Board is working on developing alternatives to the Summer Fun Run series, involving individual participation and virtual events that meet current health department guidelines for outdoor recreation. Members should expect to receive information about these proposals shortly, with an invitation to provide feedback on the types of club interactions and activities you would find most valuable – please provide us your thoughts when you receive these messages!
